It is very easy to volunteer with FRIENDS. Review the different volunteer opportunities below and click on the Volunteer Application button to fill out the form. Please note the following application is only the first part to the application process. Our Director of Community Engagement will contact you once the application is received to schedule a time to complete the rest of the application and to meet for an informal interview.

Patient and Family Support Volunteer
Engage directly with patients and families offering respite, companionship and emotional support
in the patient’s home or facility. No medical training or medical background is necessary.
Volunteers with special licenses or skills (massage therapy, music therapy, and art therapy, etc.)
are encouraged to share their expertise with the patient. COVID Vaccination required.
AVERAGE TIME INVOLVED: 1-2 hours per week
Our PET THERAPY/PET PEACE OF MIND®
programs consist of a certified therapy pet and their handler providing companionship to patients and families. A Pet Peace of Mind® volunteer will be paired with a patient and may deliver pet food or medications, transport a pet to a veterinarian appointment, walk a patient’s dog in the neighborhood or assist with feeding and cleaning so a patient may keep their pet throughout their course of illness.
AVERAGE TIME INVOLVED: dependent on patient. Scheduling is flexible.
FRIENDS is proud to partner with We Honor Veterans, a program that aims to pair volunteers with hospice patients who have been identified as Veterans. Once paired with hospice patients who also have military experience, Veteran Volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with each patient, thereby creating an environment where life review and healing may occur.

Administrative Volunteer
Provide support services to the FRIENDS administrative departments and programs including assisting a particular team member, data base entry, helping at the receptionist desk, etc.

Events & Special Projects Volunteer
Serve on the committee of one of our festivals/events or Volunteer for a shift. You can also donate some time to one of our special projects.
